Node Health’s Digital Medicine Conference: Understanding the Assignment

The HIT Like A Girl Pod team was selected as the media partner for the Annual Node Health Digital Medicine Conference, held in New York City from December 6–8, 2023. This prestigious event brought together over 300 healthcare and digital medicine leaders, providing an exceptional platform for thought-provoking discussions and innovative ideas.

The conference, dedicated to transforming innovative digital health concepts into viable, real-world solutions, was a testament to the power of collaboration and shared learning. As the media partner, we had the unique privilege of amplifying these conversations and insights, highlighting the incredible work being done in this space.

One of the most refreshing aspects of the conference was the clear emphasis on inclusivity. In an industry often criticized for its lack of diversity, it was heartening to see diverse leaders take center stage. The conference made a deliberate effort to ensure representation from various backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, acknowledging that diversity is critical to innovation and progress.

In particular, we were delighted to see many women from the healthcare and medicine worlds being highlighted. There are too many to name here, but there were notable sessions not to be missed, including:

  1. Dr. Komal Bajaj and Dr. Aletha Maybank on “Empowering Health Equity Through Collaboration, Innovation, and Evidence.

  2. Dr. Geeta Nayyar and Dr. Megan Ranney on “Elevating Evidence, Countering Misinformation, and the Importance of Continued Innovation and Collaboration for the Future of Public Health.”

  3. Anita Mahon, MS, MBA, Executive VP and Global Head of Healthcare EXL and Karen Murphy, PhD, RN, Founding Director of the Steele Institute for Health Innovation at Geisinger on “Using Data to Create a Caring and Connected Healthcare Experience.

  4. Kendal Whitlock, Head of Digital Optimization, RWE Clinical Trials, at Walgreens Boots Alliance on “State of Evidence and Digital Medicine Standards Practice of Care — Translating Digital Health Science to Practice.”

  5. Kathleen Otte, Regional Administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), on “Collaboration and Transformation.”

As noted in my recent article, “Innovation and inclusivity took center stage at the conference, with a strong focus on rebuilding trust in healthcare, acknowledging past mistakes, and bridging the gap between medical professionals and patients” (Maynard, 2023). This sentiment resonated deeply with us at HIT Like A Girl Pod. We believe in the power of communication and connection and are committed to using our platform to support and uplift voices that are often marginalized.

The conference's final day was dedicated to “Federal Health Innovation Day, " with a closing keynote by the always passionate and dynamic Grace Cordovano, Co-Founder of Unblock Health.

Our partnership with Node Health’s Digital Medicine Conference was an honor and an affirmation of our shared values and goals. To that end, we have to give a special “Thanks” to Meghan Antonelli and her HealthImpactLive team for coordinating the event and Janae Sharp, CEO of The Sharp Index, who did a phenomenal job behind the scenes. We look forward to continuing our work as a media partner, amplifying the voices of diverse leaders in healthcare, and contributing to the ongoing conversation about innovation and inclusivity in digital medicine.
